Welcome to Lansdale Camera Club

We are a group of photography enthusiasts with a variety of experience levels and photographic styles.

Our camera club meets every 3rd Monday (unless otherwise specified), September-June at the Lansdale Public Library, starting at 6:30 PM.

Our Next meeting is:

Monday March 20, 2023.

Hi All,

Our next meeting will be on March 20th, at the Library. Masks are suggested but not required.

The program for the meeting will be a presentation by photographer Brooks Jensen. Brooks discusses numerous obstacles of being an artist and the hard-won strategies to deal with these obstacles.

The member assignment for March is photographing movement with a fast shutter speed. This based on the theme from Bobbie Alexander's presentation last month "Action or Sports Photography." We will review our member's photos after the main presentation.

Meeting in-person allowed members to exchange of ideas for new programs and outing destinations. Among the program suggestions was a request for a program on drone photography. If you have other suggestions for programs of interest to you, let us know. One member suggested that the wolf preserve in New Jersey would be a good photo destination for the club in the spring. We are always looking for ways to get exposure for the club and attract new members. The club t-shirts was one way to do this. We are looking into getting a booth during Lansdale Founder’s Day. If you have other ideas for raising the profile of our club let us know.

About Lansdale Camera Club

In January 1935, four photography enthusiasts decided to form a movie camera club. They called it The Amateur Movie Club of Norristown. During an April meeting, they discussed the new color film, "Kodachrome." Women were admitted in 1938, and the first 16mm sound movies were shown. As 35mm photography increased in popularity, the club began to focus on print and slide events and education.

In 1952, to reflect changes taking place, the club renamed itself to the Norristown Camera Club. Shortly thereafter, in response to increased population into suburbs and a need for a more accessible and modern building, it relocated to Lansdale. In 2002, the club appropriately renamed itself to the Lansdale Camera Club.

Today, the club continues to grow and adapt. Events focus on many types of photography, including slides, color/black-and-white prints and digital technology. The club's biggest accomplishment recently was to win 1st prize in slides and 2nd prize in trade-processed prints at the Ray O'Day competition - a competition among camera clubs in the Delaware Valley.

The Lansdale Camera Club continues to foster a club atmosphere that meets the needs and varied interests of its members.
